These works represent Brumfield-Woods’ ongoing exploration visual perception, color theory, and pattern using hard-edge, geometric abstraction techniques. Often combining complementary colors in work, the paintings all create an after-image, an aura-like effect causing the viewer to perceive a temporary glow in their vision when looking away from the work after a prolonged viewing.
